Completed in 1966 by D.L. Phillips Builders, the building known as Winston Tower has become one of the most iconinc buildings in central North Carolina. The building was initially the corporate home of Wachovia Bank, which leased up to 351,000 of the building’s 435,933 total rentable square feet. Wachovia has since moved on, but the prestige and beauty of the building remains. Known to many central North Carolinians as “The Old Wachovia Building”, Winston Tower is now home to many of Winston-Salem’s most prestigious businesses, both large and small.
The Phillips building, adjacent to Winston Tower and a part of the same corporate complex, was completed in 1972 and was once the home to Wachovia Bank and RJ Reynolds, among others. Together, the buildings form Winston Tower Properties.
